Oberammergau 9 km 840 m, about 4.800 inhabitants, technical college for art of wood carving, folk museum, with carvings from 3 centuries, Lüftl-paintings at numerous houses, rococo parish church built in 1736 - 1742. Oberammergau Passion Play held every 10 years (next 2010), first performance in 1634, players are only inhabitants of Oberammergau (about 1.400, among them 250 children), Passion Play Theatre built in 1890, 5.272 seats. Murnau 17 km ca. 11.000 inhabitants, central located village. Münter and Kandinsky were inspired by the surroundings of Murnau, Schlossmuseum, visit of the Münter house, starting point for the bathing lakes as: Staffelsee, Kochelsee, Riegsee, Froschhauser See.
Mittenwald 26 km 920 m, about 10.000 inhabitants, violin-making since 1653, violin-making museum, state violin-maker school, famous painted church steeple, a lot of painted houses, baroque parish church built in 1738, St. Nikolas church, 15th century, Kranzberglift: 975 - 1.200 m, to the peak of the Kranzberg 1.393 m (change to small gondola), Karwendel cable car: 930 - 2.240 m.

Innsbruck 70 km 128.000 inhabitants, capital of Tyrol, Goldenes Dachl - late gothic oriel with 2.657 gilded sheets of cooper, built in about 1500, Hofburg built from 1439-1490, Hofkirche with folklore museum 1553 - 1563. City tower from the 14th century, Tyrolean regional museum, mountain Isel with a memorial to Andreas Hofer. Olympic sports complex (ice stadium, ski-jump etc.). Alpine zoo. Attractive railway line.
