The rococo castle of Linderhof was built in the years 1869 -
1878 by Ludwig II. This castle basing on Verseilles is a real
treasure of the Zugspitzland. Worth seeing are as well its
grounds outside as the great fountain, the Blue Grotto and the

castle. On the foundation walls of old castle buildings King
Maximilian of Bavaria let build this castle in about 1832. Here

1876 m above sea-level - at the Schachen underneath
Dreitorspitze King Ludwig II let build this castle in 1871. It
looks like a Swiss house from outside. To visit Schachen castle
please ask the opening hours and book at the Schachenhaus. Worth
seeing as well is the alpine garden underneath the castle, which
shows the mountain flora of all great mountain groups in the
